“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”.

Viktor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning.

From conflict zones to natural disasters to hypergrowth tech companies, and from military officer to academic researcher to corporate leader, I have spent my career working with people at the edges of their tolerance.

Of the many things that I have learned, the most important is that succeeding in extreme circumstances requires us to create change from the inside out.

For most of us, this is the hardest thing to do.

Our rapidly evolving times need courageous, resilient and adaptable change-makers who are ready to live and lead in new ways.

Over two decades of professional learning and practice has taught me that people with these qualities start out with curious minds. Then they find the right teachers.

I’m here to help…

When I was offered the job of Head of Wellbeing at a world-leading organisation, I turned it down. How could I be head of wellbeing in an organisation where I couldn’t be well myself?

Whether you’re neurodivergent or not, being ‘well’ means being in an environment that supports you to be yourself and do the best work of your life.

I help workplaces be better with ‘people like me’, through advisory consultancy and learning programmes for inclusion and belonging.

“Jacqui is a world-leading expert in the topic of neurodiversity at work, with a distinguished background both academic and professional in closely related fields”

Jacqui helped me do this by interpreting what I needed and then facilitated a number of sessions…I would definitely recommend Jacqui if, like me, you are wanting to bring together individuals that complement and understand each other.”

1-2-1 Mentoring

Are you an independent thinker feeling trapped in employment or maybe in a corporate environment where you are struggling to be ‘you’? Or a wild woman in midlife wanting to plan your ‘third act?’ I have a small number of slots available for 1-2-1 coaching and mentoring.

Wildlife Rehabilitation & Research

“If our greatest loss with the animals has been to lose touch with the reality of their existence, our second loss has been to banish them from our minds. We assume they have nothing to teach us about the predicaments of our existence.”

John Muir, Mountaineer

I run a private, licensed wildlife sanctuary from my home in Yorkshire, called ‘Nala’s Nook‘. I specialise in the rehabilitation and care of the corvid (crow) family of birds, and grey squirrels. Alongside my passion for working with the animals themselves, I’m continually learning new lessons about myself and my relationships with others through this work. I’m now committed to bringing this learning to a wider audience, and offer workshops on this theme

I’m also leading a new three year research project funded by the Open University, exploring human-wildlife relationships in a sanctuary context. See my research page for more.

Nala's Nook

“It’s always easier not to think for oneself. Find a nice safe hierarchy and settle in. Don’t make changes, don’t risk disapproval, don’t upset your cynics. It’s always easiest to let yourself be governed.

There’s a point when you have to choose whether to be like everybody else the rest of your life, or to make a virtue of your peculiarities.

Those who build walls are their own prisoners. I’m going to fulfil my proper function in the social organism.

I’m going to go and unbuild walls.”

Ursula Le Guin
